If you have been collecting glasses in your own boxes you can simply download the parcel labels for DHL, where you can fill out senders' details on the computer. To label your boxes you need to print only the first page. Print, cut out and you are good to go!

Information – preparing glasses-collection campaigns
- Determine the time period
- When searching for locations use our flyer in discussions
- Identify locations for the collection of glasses
Not just opticians, eye specialists but also banks, hospitals, doctors, town halls, local authorities, large companies and administrations with staff canteens as possible locations. Use company newsletters to draw attention to the glasses collection campaign etc. - Determine the number of collection boxes + 2 to spare
- Organise pick-up of collected glasses, not just at the end of the campaign
- Do not dictate to donors which glasses are allowed in the collection box.
We accept all glasses, frames, sunglasses, even defective ones. - Glasses do not have to be processed, do not do any extra work (do not clean, do not adjust, do not measure). All this happens in our refurbishing shops.
Information – liaise with the press
- Ideally, send written information with a personalised salutation to the editorial team in advance.
- Use flyer, see advertising material, which can also be created with individual text field.
- Enquire personally by telephone after 5-8 days.
Even if you e-mail for contact, do not send a blanket message, but address the editor in charge personally. We do not provide press releases on purpose, as personalised wording is better and more successful.

- Please announce donations of more than 3.000 glasses in advance by e-mail: info@brillenweltweit.de. We will then inform you of the specific address of a refurbishing shop.

For DHL, you may use the pre-filled label. - Please do not send the collection boxes; banana boxes or other sturdy cardboard boxes are ideal. Please do not send parcels over 20kg. Banana boxes are free, stable, stackable and easy to transport.
- Please do not use plastic film, plastic bags, bubble wrap, etc.
A few layers of newspaper provide good padding. One layer of glasses, one/several layers of paper, one layer of glasses, etc. Finally, please crumple up the newspaper to fill the remaining space. - Do not send eyeglass cases - they take up too much space, are too heavy and cost too much postage. We have to dispose of these cases for a fee. We have no money to send cases to the third world.
Information – how the refurbished glasses are being sent all aronund the world
- This is how we send the glasses all over the world: transparent zip-lock bags with the strength of the glasses and a stock number.
- These transparent zip-lock bags protect the glasses from dust, dirt, moisture and insects.
- Each transport box contains a list of stock numbers and lens strengths. At the distribution point the glasses in their zip-lock bags stand upright so that the stock number can be read. Size and colour of the glasses are immediately visible.
- Shipping boxes with eyeglass cases contain 35-40% less glasses, but weigh the same. That is why we do not send cases. Our mission is to provide people in need of eyewear with glasses, not cases.

- The glasses are given to visually impaired people for free, all around the world.
- Distribution is carried out by non-profit organisations and NGOs with local and external experts on site.
